Second Self — Privacy Policy

Last updated: Oct 27, 2026

Who we are

Second Self (the "App") is operated by SecondSelf INC.("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information the App collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information we collect

Photos and video you capture. The App asks for camera permission before using your camera, and only uses it while you are actively using a camera feature. We collect the photos or video frames you choose to capture. These may show your face, other people, or your surroundings, and may include basic metadata such as when the image was taken.

Basic technical information. When the App sends an image for processing, standard technical information such as your IP address, device type and operating system version is transmitted as part of the connection. We do not use this to identify or track you.

What we do not collect. We do not require an account and do not ask for your name or email. We do not use advertising or tracking tools, and we do not access your photo library, contacts, location or microphone.

You can turn off camera access at any time in Settings > Second Self > Camera. Camera features will not work while access is off.

How we use your information

We use your images only to provide the App's core feature: creating your Second Self from the photo or video you capture.

We do not use your images for advertising or profiling, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train AI models. We do not use your images to identify you or to create biometric templates for facial recognition.

Sharing with our AI provider

To create your Second Self, the images you capture are sent securely to a third-party AI service provider for processing. The App asks for your permission before sending any image to this provider. If you decline, no images are shared, though the feature will not be available.

Processing images to generate your result

[Provider privacy policy link]

The provider processes images only on our behalf to deliver the feature, and is bound by its terms to protect them and not use them to train its models.

We do not sell or rent your information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information only if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Retention and security

Retention. We do not store your images on our own servers. Images are kept by our provider only as long as needed to generate your result and are then deleted under the provider's data retention terms. Results saved on your device stay there until you delete them or uninstall the App.

Security. Images are sent over encrypted connections (TLS). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

International transfers

Our provider may process images in countries other than yours, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, such as for transfers from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their images. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will delete any related data promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and California and other U.S. state privacy laws, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you

• Correct or delete it

• Object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent at any time

• Receive your data in a portable format

• Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

Because we do not store images on our servers, we may hold no data about you; we will tell you if so. To make a request, email [Contact Email]. We will respond within 30 days, or 45 days where California law allows. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the App.
